Define the job of early bird
Early bird is not only a discount; it is a demand signal. Use it to fund cash flow early, populate remarketing audiences, and test which tiers move first. In India, launch noise often peaks on Instagram and YouTube—your window must align with creator posts and ad flights, not only with a calendar date.
Pick an end condition: fixed time, fixed inventory per tier, or both. “Both” is common for high-demand shows; publish which condition hits first to avoid accusations of moving goalposts.
Quotas that protect yield
Cap early bird per tier and per channel when needed. For example, limit creator-code redemptions so partner traffic does not eat the entire GA early pool. Keep a buffer for technical glitches and payment retries; nothing erodes trust faster than “sold out” during UPI spikes when inventory still exists.
Watch velocity daily. If early bird is too slow, adjust marketing before you extend deadlines. Repeated extensions teach buyers to procrastinate.
Messaging that stays honest
State end time in IST, name the next phase price band, and repeat official purchase links to cut phishing risk. Pair email with WhatsApp reminders for opted-in users—short, transactional copy works best.
When early bird ends, run a structured handoff: thank-you note to buyers, announcement of phase two, and a cart-recovery push for abandoned checkouts. Silence between phases creates room for rumors and scalper listings.
Operational guardrails
Throttle per card or per UPI VPAs if bot traffic appears. Require OTP-verified accounts for high quantities. Align support macros with phase rules so agents do not promise extensions that inventory cannot support.
After close, analyze cohort quality: refund rate, no-show, and upsell to add-ons. Early bird should feed smarter phase two, not just cheaper tickets.
